We are so pleased that the Wednesday Spinners took the time to share such a lovely review on TripAdvisor. We so look forward to their retreat every year.
“Annual spinners retreat”
5 of 5 starsReviewed
Every winter since 2002, a group of handspinners from downeast Maine has gathered at Alamoosook Lakeside Inn for a long weekend of spinning together, basking in the wonderful atmosphere that Gina creates. We have been meeting at individual’s homes weekly since 1975, but this is different. For all of us, it’s a way of unplugging from the real world for a few days, reveling in the beautiful surroundings that the Inn provides, both inside and out: a cozy sitting area by the wood stove for early morning knitting and conversation, a view to die for, eagles, skiing and snowshoeing on the lake, a large space in which to spread out our circle of wheels, a large family room downstairs where we can watch a film or two….the list goes on. It’s an environment in which we can celebrate our joys and share our sorrows and provide inspiration to each other in our work and in our lives.
The always-welcoming Gina and her great staff take excellent care of us throughout. The meals are consistently creative, well-prepared, and graciously served. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated and comfortable, and although we are three (sometimes four!) to a room, it all works out well.
As we approach our fourteenth sojourn at the Inn, it can easily be said that our annual stay at Alamoosook is a shining beacon on our collective horizon over the course of each year.
All the rooms are comfortable and open on to a glassed-in hallway overlooking the lake that leads to the main part of the Inn.
